Argumentative Writing Terms

Horizontales
The opposing viewpoint. Opposite of your claim. Usually has a paragraph to itself.
The people who you are writing to and/or for.
An explanation as the why a claim is correct.
The addition of more detail concerning what has already been said. Use of one's own thoughts to offer additional information to discuss the evidence and how it is important and/or related to the claim.
When something is stated directly in the text.
Words used by writers to progress from one idea to another. (The answer has 2 words with a space in between them)
Evidence whose connection to the claim is not clear.
Any information that proves the claim is correct, including but not limited to facts, examples, statistics, and quotes from the sources provided.
To prove a statement to be wrong or false; disprove

Logical reasons to reject the counterclaim.
A brief passage of text that tells you what you are required to write about. You should ALWAYS read this first, even before the sources.
