Thankful for Pro-Life Laws!

Horizontales
State of Michigan has strong protections: Transfer ban (fetal tissue harvested cannot be transferred between abortion practices and fetal tissue markets), burial requirement (abortion practices must bury or cremate the unborn, no disposing of fetal tissue as medical waste), research ban (no public funding for conducting research using tissue from aborted babies), sale or profit ban (fetal tissue harvested cannot be sold or procured for valuable consideration), and death certificate (for miscarried or stillbirth)
Amendment became law in 1976, prohibits use of federal, Medicaid dollars for abortion except in cases of rape, incest or when the life of the woman would be endangered. Renewed each year through Appropriations Bill, however, it is now in jeopardy in US Congress.
These laws ban abortion from the moment in pregnancy when a heartbeat can be detected. These are the strongest pro-life laws ever adopted on the state level since the US Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. An embryonic heartbeat can be detected very early in pregnancy, typically by 6-10 weeks gestation using the best methods of standard medical practice.
Signed into law December 28, 2016 by Lt. Gov. Brian Calley of MI. It prohibits the exchange of any form of compensation for fetal tissue or organs.
This law enables a person to give up an unwanted infant anonymously. As long as the baby has not been abused, the person may do so without fear of arrest or prosecution. You can leave your baby, up to 3 days old, with a staff member at any hospital, fire or police station or any emergency service provider that is on duty in MI.
Verticales
Prohibits using live embryo or fetus for research purposes not designed to improve the health of the research subject; prohibits performing an abortion with the intent to use the fetus for research purposes. Passed in Michigan in 1978.
This is illegal in Michigan and the punishment is a felony.
At this time, federal law and 32 states do not adequately protect the lives of infants who survive abortion. Practitioners in MI must exercise professional skill, care and diligence to preserve the life of infants who survive abortion with a Health Care Requirement (hospitalization of the infant). But, what is missing are legal penalties for not complying which results in weak protection.
In 2019, the MI Department of Community Health reported that 52.5% of black babies, 41.7% of white babies, and 5.8% of babies with other skin colors were aborted. 63.6% of abortions were performed on women ages 25 and over. 48.6% were repeat abortions. 353 abortions were performed after 20 weeks of fetal development.
