This character type remains largely the same throughout the course of a story. Despite their environment changing, they retain their personality and outlook on life.
This character opposes the protagonist. By working against the protagonist, they create the main conflict in the story.
An object, person, place, or event that stands for a bigger idea. Used by authors to give their work more meaning; makes a work about more than the events it describes.
