Systems of Equations

Horizontales
This method is best used when both equations of the system are in slope-intercept form.
a system of equations in which the equations have different slopes and intersect at one point
The x and y values that satisfy both equations.
The lines are directly on top of each other. Essentially, they are the same line and intersect ALL THE TIME.
For this method, you find (or create) opposite coefficients and add the equations together.
The x-coordinate of the point where the line on the graph crosses the x-axis
Verticales
This method is best used when an equation has an isolated variable.
There is no solution to this system.
The lines are parallel, have the same slope, but a different y-intercept, and will never intersect.
The y-coordinate of the point where the line on the graph crosses the y-axis
