Pharmacology ("G and H")

Horizontales
Antipsychotic, monitor for extrapyramidal symptoms & QT prolongation
Thiazide diuretic, monitor for hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hypomagnesemia, hypophosphatemia, and dehydration
Aminoglycoside, monitor for hearing loss, tinnitus. Never give w/penicillin
Nonopioid analgesic, DC after first sign of rash, monitor liver studies, monitor for bleeding
Anticoagulant, monitor for bleeding. Monitor platelet count, may cause hyperkalemia
Verticales
Hormone, stimulates the production of glucose stores. Monitor for hypotension
AKA Dilaudid, dilute w/normal saline prior to administration & give slowly to decrease CNS depression
Mucolytic, avoid OTC meds, maintain hydration
Vasodilator, monitor for hypotension, tachycardia & angina
Sulfonylurea, may create symptoms of hypoglycemia if given with beta blockers.
