Sedation, Analgesics, and Paralytics

Horizontales

Verticales
Depolarizing agent with onset of 30-60 seconds. Effects last 4-6 minutes. Plasma cholinesterase and renal elimination. May cause malignant hyperthermia, hyperkalemia, hypotension, bradycardia, and increased intraocular/gastric/intracranial pressure.
Anesthetic with a half-life of 2.5-3 hours. Metabolized by liver and excreted through urine. Used in ICU as a sedative, but can be used to treat depression and chronic pain in low doses. May cause dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.

Opioid with a half-life of 3-7 hours. Metabolized by liver and excreted through urine. Used for breakthrough pain and treatment of air hunger. May cause hypotension, respiratory depression, nausea, and constipation.
Benzodiazepine with a half-life of 3-11 hours. Metabolized by liver, excreted through urine. May be used to treat alcohol withdrawal. Increases risk of delirium and tolerance. May cause respiratory depression, nausea, and vomiting.
