Horizontales
Residents have the right to choose to go to bed when they prefer, even if this means not until after the 3rd shift arrives.

Failure to provide needs that are necessary to avoid harm or pain
Your personal life and every detail should not be shared with residents. They should not know what kind of alcohol you drink or where your favorite bar is, or who you had relations with or plan to have relations. They should not be your Facebook friends!
Verticales
Purposefully separating a resident from others, "placing them in a time out"
Form of abuse involving hitting, slapping, pinching, and kicking
Causing injury, harm, pain unreasonable confinement, intimidation, or mental anguish
Residents have a right to be treated in a friendly manner, not yelled at, or made to feel hurried, or feel like they are receiving rushed treatment or care
Residents nightstands have a lock. Other residents wander. there are many employees from various departments and visitors in the building and in the hallways. Encourage residents to lock up valuables.
Using oral or written language or gestures including derogatory comments
It is not okay to accept or exchange any form of money or valuables with a resident or suggest that let you borrow any personal item of theirs.
Taking advantage of a resident through theft, taking money or personal property
Talk to the resident when providing care. Don't pretend they are not there and talk to your co-worker instead.
Residents information is kept confidential. It is not to be shared with other residents or staff that are not providing direct care.
